Council Tax Court Costs…Where?

www.windowsontheworld.net This weeks show: The Rev. Paul Nicolson of www.taxpayersagainstpoverty.org.uk on his recent High Court Judicial Review into the costs of Council Tax Summonses. The Court initially ruled it was in the public interest to request that Haringey Councils auditors Grant Thornton present a breakdown of the £125 cost of a summons. In the latest case Grant Thornton did not provide this information and Paul was landed with £50,000 legal costs. The court have now stated it is NOT in the public interest. The council print the summons and hire the room in the court. This may be why there is no breakdown of costs and Paul has been made an example of as this is a huge money making exercise for councils.
